FORMAN LAW GROUP OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES DURING THE STATE OF EMERGENCY
In light of COVID19 and the State of Emergency declared in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts, Forman Law Group, P.A. has adopted the following operating procedures for client meetings:
- New Client Meetings – All initial consultations with new clients will be done through telephone, Facetime, Skype, Zoom or any other video conferencing mechanism the client is comfortable utilizing. Any supporting documentation needed for the initial meeting shall be emailed or faxed to the attorney prior to the initial conference.
- Communication with Clients - As many of us are working remotely, we are checking email and voice mail more regularly to ensure we are available for your questions and concerns. Please be advised this office will continue to be staffed with modified hours of 9am-4pm, however, no walk-ins shall be permitted and all clients will be seen by appointment only.
- Clients Retaining Forman Law Group – Following the initial meeting, retainer letters (when applicable) will be either mailed or emailed for signature and the original should be mailed back to the attorney.
- Execution of Estate Planning Documents – Forman Law Group, P.A. will either mail or email the documents prior to the meeting and will conduct a telephone or video conference to review each and every document. All edits must be made in advance and prior to a signing, no edits or changes may be made at the signing. This minimizes the time people are together and expedites the signing process. Once the client is comfortable with the documents and no further edits are needed, we offer the following means by which to sign documents:
- You can take your documents and sign them before two witnesses and a notary if you wish on your own after you receive them and they are finalized.
- If an executive order allows virtual notary, we will be able to sign the documents during a video conference. The client will sign the documents in the virtual presence of a notary and two witnesses and will mail the documents back to the office for execution.
- If you would prefer to meet with us to sign the documents we will:
- Execute the documents outdoors at your home (weather permitting). The attorney will bring one witness if needed, but the client must provide one additional witness (unrelated and not named in the documents).
- Our Londonderry office has an available table and chairs that can be setup next to the barn. Weather permitting, clients can sign in the presence of the attorney and 2 witnesses.
- Please be advised that attorneys and witnesses will be following the CDC’s 6 foot recommendation. In addition, clients and witnesses must reschedule if they are experiencing any cold symptoms or fever.
We apologize for any inconvenience during this difficult time and hope that the State of Emergency will be lifted soon. We appreciate your continued support and wish you peace and good health during these trying times.
